Our Committees

In addition to the Board of Directors, IVHFH sub-committees assist the organization with aspects of its day-to-day operations.

Construction

  • Plan renovations or new house construction
  • Supervise a project or a portion of construction, such as framing, dry wall or painting.
  • Meet with subcontractors and contact suppliers.

Faith Relations

  • Outreach to all faith communities and increase committee membership with different churches.
  • Work to establish an annual “Circle of Faith” Build.
  • Brainstorm, plan, and execute a Habitat Faith Club for consistent, small-scale support from area faith communities.
  • Encourage local church participation and financial support of Habitat’s work.
  • Encourage participation in Nehemiah Program.
  • Plan local participation in International Day of Prayer and Action.

Family Selection

  • Assist families as they apply.
  • Work as a team to process and screen applicants.
  • Interview applicants, review financial status, and evaluate applicant qualifications.
  • Make family recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Family Support

  • Work with Partner Families to build lasting friendships.
  • Help Partner Families make decisions and complete requirements to buy their Habitat home.
  • Be Enthusiastic and creative in helping families be successful as Habitat Partner Families.

Finance

  • Review Treasurer’s and Bookkeeper’s work.
  • Develop monthly financial reports.
  • Manage budget for the year.
  • Assist in making cash flow decisions.
  • Assist in the annual audit process.

Fundraising/PR

  • Assist in creating awareness and promoting Habitat programs.
  • Help organize and implement fundraising campaigns and programs.
  • Assist in planning and public relations aspects of special fundraising events.
  • Establish and maintain a donor recognition system.
  • Identify and cultivate major business supporters.

ReStore Committee

  • Set the direction and policy for ReStore.
  • Monthly review of the store activity and financial reports.

Site Selection

  • Work with people interested in donating land.
  • Identify potential sites and evaluate sites’ suitability for affiliates house plans.
  • Help negotiate the purchase of land.
  • Work with local government to locate and secure property.

Thrivent Build

  • Assist in the successful partnership with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans through Thrivent Builds.
  • Coordinate local Lutheran involvement through Lutheran churches in the community.
  • Plan groundbreaking, dedication, and wall raising ceremonies.
