Group Involvement
We offer many opportunities to get your group involved. If you're looking for a fun and worthwhile way to get your members within your business, service organization, community club or faith organization involved, look no further than Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity.
We want to provide your group with a chance to make a difference and help local families. Please look to the list below for ideas, and we're also happy to discuss alternatives if you don't find an opportunity that fits your group's exact needs. TEAM Building Days
Sponsor a TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) Building Day to get employees and group members outside of their normal environment and into a one-on-one setting at an exciting, fast-paced construction site. A great alternative to a ropes course or retreat, this leadership activity will build community, boost morale, and foster teamwork within your group.
We offer many different TEAM Building levels that are sure to fit with your group, working with groups as large as 40 individuals and as small as 5. Aside from a day of team-building activities and building, your groups will also receive t-shirts and breakfast or lunch.
Build Day
Plan a Build Day to reserve volunteer shifts for your members. Due to limited volunteer opportunities, please plan on reserving your Build Day well before the actual date.
To begin planning your event, please review this Build Day packet. Because we rely on the community to help us financially support each build, please consider planning a fundraiser or encouraging your members to make a small donation to support your Build Day. Organizing and carrying out a fundraiser is also a great way to use your members' talents and skills while encouraging the group to work together.
Look to the Ways to Fundraise packet to see how you can further involve your group members in supporting our housing nonprofit.
Cans for Habitat
Organize a Neighborhood Can Drive to collect redeemable aluminum cans and plastic bottles to support our Cans for Habitat program. Review the Neighborhood Can Drive packet to get your group started in turning cans and bottles into Habitat homes!
