Donate to Help Build

Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity is blessed to have local and national supporters who provide us with services and products at no charge. We rely on the support of Gift-in-Kind donations and welcome you to partner with us through the Gift-in-Kind Program.

Through donations of building materials and tools, contractor labor, business services, office materials, and software, food and water, as well as many other services and goods, we are able to continue to build safe, decent, and affordable housing in partnership with those in need.

We are very grateful to our donors for their support. If you or your company is interested in providing resources or services, contact Maggie Pforts, Resource Development Director.

Building Materials and Tools

Each year, we need enough materials, tools, and services to build around five homes. Your contribution of new and used materials helps keep our homes affordable for the hardworking families who contribute 250 hours of sweat equity – or volunteer hours – per adult and make monthly payments on interest-free mortgages held by our affiliate.

Habitat builds simple, energy-efficient homes and all supplies and services must fit into our current house design and meet code, quality, and appearance standards. Please contact Matt Anderson, Construction Manager, to discuss your donation.

Other new and gently used materials can be donated to the Habitat ReStore, where the proceeds from their sales will help fund the construction of new Habitat homes.

Contracted Labor

Although it is true that Habitat homes could not be built without volunteer labor, we do hire HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and drywall contractors. Donation of your professional skills and/or labor will accelerate our building schedule, maintain high quality, keep our work sites safe, and help us keep our homes affordable. Please consider donating your services for one Habitat home this year to impact a family within our community.

Land

When you donate land, Iowa Valley Habitat can either build on the property or sell it and use the revenue to help a family into a safe and secure home they deserve. For many individuals and corporations, this is a smart option for disposing of surplus real estate assets. Help us continue our mission to provide affordable housing in Cedar, Johnson, and Iowa Counties and donate a Legacy of Land to IVHFH.

To discuss specific criteria, contact Mark Patton, Executive Director.

Food and Water

We appreciate our volunteers and want to make their experience as enjoyable as possible. Feeding them and making sure they are hydrated are our top priorities. Donations of non-perishable snacks, water, drinks, and hygienic supplies, such as toilet paper, hand sanitizer, paper towels, and sunscreen are items we use on-site.
