How can YOU get involved with Habitat for Humanity?

Volunteers are the backbone of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity. We partner with individuals, families, groups, businesses, and faith organizations as we help families and individuals in need receive safe, decent, and affordable homes.

Join the excitement at Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity!  We have a range of ongoing projects, and there are opportunities for everyone.

Learn about group involvement

Construction

Help with tasks such as framing, siding, painting, landscaping, and learn the basics of building a house while helping a deserving family in the community.

Construction season lasts from April through the end of December. Build days are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and are generally broken down into a morning and afternoon shift. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Ashley Wahlert, to reserve your spot in the 2012 build schedule!

ReStore

Help run the ReStore, Habitat for Humanity's discount home-improvement center. Proceeds allow us to help more families reach their dream of home ownership.

You can help in the ReStore by greeting customers, unloading donations, or helping with donation pick-ups. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Ashley Wahlert, to set up a time to volunteer, or check the volunteer website for ReStore volunteer opportunities.

Weatherization

Get involved with our new weatherization program by receiving technician training and going out into the community with our staff to weatherize the homes of low-income families and individuals.

Individuals and groups may receive training and help us weatherize throughout the year. Training sessions are every other Thursday unless otherwise planned with your group, and work days will normally fall on Fridays and Saturdays.  Find a weatherization training on our volunteer website, or contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Ashley Wahlert, to start weatherizing!

Photography/Filming

Take pictures or help film volunteer and special events throughout the year. This is an ongoing opportunity, but our biggest need is during construction season. Email the Volunteer Coordinator, Ashley, Wahlert, to learn more.

Administrative Office

Help in our office by assisting with tasks such as filing, data entry, writing letters, or helping with events. All skills are welcome, and the time commitment is flexible. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Ashley Wahlert, to set up a time to volunteer in our office.
