Volunteer
Volunteers are the livelihood of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity. We strive to involve individuals, families, groups, businesses, and faith organizations in our work, helping us along as we partner with families in need to place them into a safe and secure home of their own that they deserve.
You can be part of the excitement here at IVHFH! We have a range of ongoing volunteer opportunities at Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, and we’re confident there’s a perfect fit for you.

Ways to volunteer
Construction Sites
Pick up a hammer and start building alongside the Habitat Construction Crew and volunteers. Volunteer tasks will range from building walls and framing to painting, trimming and siding. No prior
construction experience is ever needed, and our trained construction staff will walk you along every step of the way.
Per insurance requirements, all volunteers must be 16 years of age or older, unless otherwise noted.
ReStore
Help Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity run the ReStore, a discount home-improvement center! Normal volunteer activities involve greeting customers and assisting customers with loading their purchases. The ReStore is a supporting program of IVHFH, and every dollar the store makes goes to cover Habitat’s administrative expenses. Simply put, your volunteer time helps more families into homes of their own.
Each ReStore volunteer must sign up for and attend an orientation before their first volunteer shift. Look to Volunteer Calendar for orientation session times.
Special Events / Office
Since Iowa Valley Habitat is a nonprofit, we hold several fundraising events each year to raise the necessary funds to build homes. We also send out newsletters and letters to our donors, and rely on volunteers to help prepare these mailings. We believe everyone has a gift to share and a talent they can offer to better Iowa Valley Habitat.
If you’d like to get involved in supporting the administrative side of Habitat, please contact us with your idea.
Committee Operations
Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity is governed by a Board of Directors who oversee what we do. We also have several committees where we use volunteers’ talents to assist us in furthering our mission. Most committees meet once per month and have between 1-4 hours of outside work each month.
If you would like to get involved in a committee, please contact us.
