Aside from raising $50,000, students and faculty members throughout Tippie dedicated hundreds of hours building the home and organizing fundraising efforts. Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity was once again blessed with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans' partnership in building a safe, decent, and affordable home for a low-income family in need. Thrivent raised nearly $80,000 to build this home, the sixth Thrivent Builds home that the Iowa Valley Habitat affiliate has constructed.

Dave Stephens Memorial Build

The Dave Stephens Memorial Build was built in memory of the long-time banker and community booster through community volunteers and financial contributions. A strong committee -- co-chaired by Brenda Emick-Herring and Janel Stephens -- helped to raise additional funding to complete this build in Dave's honor, helping the Kettler family into a home of their own.

The Room for All Build brought together groups throughout the community -- businesses, service organizations, faith communities and more -- into one body to help them serve others, to discover the importance of housing, and to assist the Diallo family into a home of their own.

2010 Whirlpool Building Blocks Build

Whirlpool Amana Division partnered with us through the 2010 Whirlpool Building Blocks program that took place in multiple communities in which Whirlpool has a presence. Aside from raising $50,000 to help single mother, Alicia, and her two girls into a home of their own, the company worked alongside Alicia to build the two-story home in Williamsburg. As with every other build, Whirlpool also donated the oven range, refrigerator, provided the family with a Thanksgiving meal, and bedding for both girls.

 

Youth United Build

The Youth United Build brought together youth ages 5 to 25 years of age to help Iowa Valley Habitat complete a major renovation on an abandoned home which provided Najwa Jadalrab's family with a safe, decent, affordable home of their own. Youth of all ages were involved in various tasks and projects which showed them that it takes many people of all ages and skills to support a family into a safe, decent, affordable home of the own.

The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business sponsored their fourth home with IVHFH! The Tippie Build Steering Committee has led the college in raising $150,000 for Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity since 2007, and through this partnership four low-income families now live in safe, decent, and affordable homes of their own.
