Habitat 500

Sunday, July 11

When: Sunday, July 11 - Saturday, July 17
Where: Begins and ends in Sandstone, Minnesota

The Habitat 500 is a bicycle ride (not a race) and fundraiser that covers 500 miles over the course of 7 days (an average of 71 miles per day). Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota organizes this event each year, and this will be the 18th event where riders from around the country come to support Habitat.

  • Participation is limited to 135 riders.
  • Each rider is required to raise a minimum of $900 to help offset the costs involved with the race. To reach this goal, you can gain support from family, friends, businesses, and church groups, and thanks to their great sponsors, an average of 96 cents of each dollar goes to support the mission and will come back to support Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity! This $900 fee will cover breakfast and dinner each day, along with lodging. At each host site, riders are welcome to stay indoors or outdoors in a tent they bring.
  •  Each year is a new route touring Midwest (mostly Minnesota) Habitat affiliates, families and construction sites. This year they'll remain in Minnesota and depart and return from Sandstone.
