►A signed Information Disclosure Authorization for all employed adults in household.
►A photocopy of the applicant and co-applicant’s (if applicable) Drivers Licenses.
►3 months worth of pay stubs for each place you are employed. You must also send in
paystubs for other employed adults living in the household.

Send or drop off the application packet with all above documents to:
             Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity
             2401 Scott Blvd. SE
             Iowa City, IA 52240

Failure to include all necessary documentation will result in the application process being delayed.

  1. After IVHFH has received all of the appropriate information, the Family Selection Committee will review the application and pull your credit report. You will be notified if you have been approved to move forward to the next round.
  2. If you are selected to proceed to the next step in the application process, you will receive an invitation to set up an orientation meeting. You will be required to attend an orientation session and sign a letter of understanding and intent in order to proceed in the application process.
  3. Once you have attended an orientation meeting, you will be contacted to schedule a home visit with Family Selection Committee members. A representative from the Family Selection Committee will visit your home and go over your application with you.
  4. The Family Selection Committee will review the application, all documentation information, and your home visit to determine if your family meets all necessary criteria. If approved, the committee will make a recommendation to the IVHFH Board of Directors.
  5. If recommended, your anonymous application will go before the Board of Directors and they will have the final vote on your application.
  6. If approved, your family will be considered a Habitat Partner Family and will begin working towards homeownership with Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity!

At any step in the application process an application can be denied for a variety of reasons including, but not limited to: unsatisfactory credit, or debt-to-income ratio, income does not meet guidelines, or family stability.

If you are concerned about your credit or debt-to-income ratio, please contact our office and we would be happy to meet with you to go over your credit report. Our office can provide you with ideas to help you form a budget to reach financial stability.
